Rainbow Cake!

Boo and I decided to make rainbow cake one day (I do not think it was even rainy ;-)). While I am typically not a fan of artificial dyes, this cake looked too amazing to pass up. You can find the recipe/tutorial for Rainbow Cake here: Rainbow Cake Tutorial The most important thing to remember is to use icing colors found at Michaels and other craft/cake decorating stores. Grocery store food coloring does not even come close to producing these vibrant colors. The cake looked great and tasted good too! Just make sure to wear an apron or old clothes while preparing this recipe (icing color stains are forever ;-))!

Polly Pocket Quilt

This was a super-easy quilt to make. I used cotton and flannel fabrics from JoAnns and a basic pattern of alternating fabrics for the checkerboard look. This was my first try at stippling, so it is not perfect for sure, but made with love for a little one who appreciated it. :-) You can find some great quilting information and beginner's patterns at http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpatternsprojects/u/quilt_patterns.htm
