Whisk together 2 cups of baking soda, 1 cup of cornstarch, and 1 1/2 cups cold water in a sauce pan. Continue whisking slowly while heating the mixture on medium high. Remove from heat when mixture has the consistency of mashed potatoes. Cool, then knead on a counter dusted with cornstarch. Add more cornstarch as needed until the mixture is no longer sticky. Food coloring may be added (to make green penguins and such). Let dry for at least twenty-four hours before painting.
