Patriotic Sugar CookiesOur oldest daughter loves to bake and decided to make us some sugar cookies decorated with patriotic colors for our July 4 celebration.
She found a sugar cookie recipe at
allrecipes.com and decorated the cookies according to the directions for
Martha Stewart's Firework Cookies.

1. Freshly baked sugar cookies.

2. Color
icing with blue and red icing colors (available at craft stores such as
Michaels). Put icing in
ziploc bag and snip off a small corner at the bottom of the bag. Reserve a small bowl with white icing and cover all of the cookies with the white icing base.

3. Place one dot of blue icing in the middle of the cookie, followed by one red and one blue icing circle.

4. Take a toothpick and, beginning in the middle, pull the icing toward the edge of the cookie.

5. Repeat for the remaining cookies. You can get as creative as you like!
